Seven Years of Memories
Today, my daughter Petra turns seven. As I created a timeline for her school project, I found myself lost in years of photos, each one a small piece of our story. In going through these images, I was reminded of the warmth, love, and joy that have colored our lives together. These photos capture the quiet, everyday moments—the in-between times that make up our family’s unique journey.
Looking through this collection, I’m struck by how much life we’ve shared. From simple days at home to Petra’s first experience with horses, from her curiosity with winemaking in Armenia to playful afternoons in Barcelona, each image holds a piece of her vibrant spirit and the happiness we’ve found in these small, beautiful moments.
Yet, this journey hasn’t been without challenges. Petra’s young life has already been shaped by resilience and courage, as our family made the difficult choice to seek a safer, freer life. In some ways, these photos remind me of what we’ve left behind, but they also highlight how far we’ve come and the strength that holds us together.
Being both a mother and a photographer is a profound honor. Family photography is more than just taking pictures; it’s about preserving the fleeting, authentic moments. And in Petra’s case, it’s a visual journey of a little girl who has already seen so much and embraced each step with joy and wonder.
I feel immense gratitude to be by her side, capturing her story. I hope these images, and the memories they hold, will stay with Petra as she grows, reminding her of the warmth, love, and resilience that have been woven into her life from the very beginning.
